One day Princess RiverStar was reading a book to Papa and she came to a word she didn’t know, nutrients.
‘What does the word nutrients mean,’ she asked?
A good way to think of it is how much value or good stuff your body gets out of something that you take in.
That can be food, water, air, energy or personal contact.
If you take food for example, the nutrients are the healthy things in your food that helps your body and mind.
Some plants like vegetables have more nutrients than some grains like rice.
And, different foods have different types of nutrients.
For example, vegetables give your body different nutrients than nuts or eggs.
Natural foods without chemicals are usually higher in nutrients and help your body.
Processed foods with lots of chemicals generally hurt your body.
But, the most important thing to remember is that fresh foods have more nutrients than food that has been dead for a while…
