The Unicorn Adventure (1 of 4) – The Adventures Of Princess RiverStar (Ch. 30)

Unicorns have started gathering in a grove by a hidden waterfall next to the enchanted forest on Sundays. Princess RiverStar and her younger sister Princess BrightStar have taken to having picnics in the grove and watching them bathe and play. When the Princesses arrived late one Sunday morning, they saw an unexpected scene. All of the unicorns were standing towards the back of the grove and looking towards them, except for one unicorn. It was lying down a few feet from where they usual set their picnic blanket in between a mango tree and papaya tree. One look at the unicorn and they could tell that it was in pain. The Princesses quickly put down their things and walked over to the unicorn. A quick inspection showed them that a stone was stuck in its left front paw. The unicorn was clearly asking for their help and, of course, they would help it. Princess RiverStar comforted the unicorn, while Princess BrightStar went back to their picnic basket for a knife to pluck the stone out. The unicorn seemed a little nervous, but it had chosen to trust them. Working together, the girls were able to quickly remove the stone. When they wiped off the mud from it, they were surprised to see that it was a beautiful purple-ish diamond of a type that was not of their world. When the King and Queen joined the Princesses, they theorized that the diamond came from the land of the unicorns and wondered about the true nature of the gatherings.

Introduction

Princess BrightStar and Princess RiverStar could barely contain themselves at the breakfast table.

You see, it was Sunday, the day of the week when they would do their new favorite thing.

Every Sunday morning, they would hike down to a hidden waterfall on the edge of the enchanted forest for a picnic and to watch the unicorns bathe and play.

The Princesses would always go first with a few snacks from Cook.

The King and Queen would join them at lunchtime with an assortment of food and treats.

The first few hours were their special time alone, when they felt the most connected to the unicorns.

Sometimes, the girls thought that the unicorns enjoyed their Sunday visits even more than they did.

The girls were empathic and telepathic like the unicorns.

But, the unicorns were mysterious creatures that did things for their own reasons.

So, the Princesses were never really certain what to think.

Everyone at the breakfast table could see how restless the Princesses were and knew why.

Their parents looked at them and started laughing.

‘You can go now,’ they said.

Have fun, but please be careful the queen reminded them.

And, wear your location pendants so that we can find you quickly if needed.

‘We will’ they both agreed as they jumped down from their chairs and ran towards door.

Cook was already at the door with a smile and a basket of snacks.

‘Have fun!’ she yelled as they raced away.

The Princesses had been doing this for months now.

Ever since one of the knights reported that the unicorns had started gathering there on Sundays.

No one knew why they were gathering there.

But, unicorns were peaceful loving creatures that were worshiped and always welcomed.

The Princesses quickly made their way out the castle and across the castle bridge named Rosie.

However, instead of going straight towards the enchanted forest and the home of the elves, they took the path that veered left and ran along the edge of the forest.

After a few minutes on the main road, they had to travel on some animal trails to get to the waterfall.

But, they knew where they were going and every step and turn along the way.

Within ten minutes of leaving the castle, they were descending a steep hill down to the grove with the secret waterfall.

However, when they reached the grove, they saw an unexpected scene.

All of the unicorns were standing towards the back of the grove and looking towards them, except for one unicorn.

It was laying down a few feet from where they usual set their picnic blanket in between a mango tree and papaya tree.

One look at the unicorn and they could tell that it was in pain…
