The Unicorn Adventure (2 of 4) – The Adventures Of Princess RiverStar (Ch. 31)

The following Sunday when the princesses arrived at the waterfall, they were disappointed not to find any unicorns there at all. What was going on they wondered? Princess BrightStar suggested that they go back and tell their parents and Princess RiverStar was just about to agree when she saw sunlight shining off four of the purple-ish diamonds where they usually lay their blanket. When they reached down to pick up the diamonds, they were surprised to see that there were only two diamonds on the grass. They were even more surprised to discover the two missing diamonds in their hands. What was going on, they wondered again? Princess RiverStar reached down again to pick up the two remaining diamonds. But, every time that she went to scoop them up, they would disappear and then reappear in the same spot on the ground. Princess BrightStar tried as well, but she couldn’t pick them up either. Maybe they are for momma and papa, suggested Princess RiverStar. Maybe, agreed Princess BrightStar. So, they decided to wait for the King and Queen to get there and see what they thought.

Introduction

The following Sunday when the princesses arrived at the waterfall, they were disappointed not to find any unicorns there at all.

What was going on they wondered?

Was everything alright with the unicorns?

Princess BrightStar suggested that they go back and tell their parents.

Princess RiverStar was just about to agree when she saw sunlight shining off four of the purple-ish diamonds where they usually lay their blanket.

Was it a message from the unicorns?

The princesses quickly walked over to inspect the diamonds.

I’m nervous, she admitted.

Me too, replied Princess RiverStar.

But, I don’t sense any danger and I feel certain that the unicorns left these for us.

Why don’t we wait for momma and papa to get here and see what they think?

We have our pendants and can signal them for help if needed.

Well, we haven’t had the grove to ourselves in a long time said Princess BrightStar smiling.

They spent the next few hours eating, relaxing and playing in the pool of water at the base of the waterfall.

When their parents arrived, they rushed over to tell them about the diamonds and missing unicorns.

As the royal family walked towards the blanket and the two diamonds lying next to it in the grass, all four diamonds began to pulsate.

They looked at each other with renewed curiosity.

As the princesses theorized, the remaining two diamonds magically appeared in the hands of the King and Queen.

They began to wonder why the unicorns had left the diamonds for them.

After discussing it for a few minutes, they agreed that the most likely explanation was that it was time for the unicorns to select a new elder for their council.

They decided to dig into the feast that cook had prepared for them.

As they ate, they recounted everything that they knew about unicorns.

It turned out not to be that much at all.

So, they moved on to fun and games and dips in the pool.

As they were finishing up their picnic getting ready to head home, they were startled to see four unicorns walk out from the waterfall…
